The City Council of San Sebastián de La Gomera presents its Christmas programming under the motto "The Star that Whistles Your Way", which begins with the official lighting ceremony of the Christmas lights on Saturday, November 30 in Tecina and in the center of San Sebastián with parades, children's entertainment and musical performances.
Angélica Padilla, mayor of San Sebastián, highlighted that the Christmas program opens in Tecina with the lighting of the Parque de las Eras, "this year we have decided to start the celebrations in the Tecina neighborhood, they will be the first to open the Christmas lighting and, of course, it will not be the only event that takes place in this and other neighborhoods of our municipality throughout December and early January," she stated. Padilla revealed that the Christmas lighting, both in the Tecina neighborhood and in the center of San Sebastián, "will feature the special premiere of a Christmas carol performed by Luis Tevez, who will accompany us throughout the holidays."
The mayor announced that the Christmas program of San Sebastián de La Gomera "is a compilation of events designed so that our neighbors can enjoy culture, tradition and leisure as a family during these holidays, with an attractive, fun and dynamic offer that will tour the municipality and will become, in turn, a dynamizing factor for the commercial sector of San Sebastián. In addition, the second edition of the Traditional Christmas Market will be held, which opens on December 5 in the Plaza de Las Américas, after the good reception and popular success it had last year.
The Councilor for Culture and Festivals of San Sebastián, Aday Herrera, pointed out that "the city council will comply with the tradition of congratulating Christmas and New Year to all our neighbors with the winning postcards of the contest that has been held in the educational centers of the municipality. In addition, for these holidays the ice rink has been recovered, which makes the little ones so excited and which we will also bring to the Tecina neighborhood.
Herrera highlighted that the Christmas programming "will reach all the neighborhoods of San Sebastián with a wide range of events that pay tribute to the tradition of these holidays, to which are added many special novelties and with the great talent of the groups, musical associations and cultural collectives of our municipality," he added.
The Christmas program "The Star that Whistles Your Way" starts on Saturday, November 30 at 5:00 p.m. with the announcing parade in the Tecina neighborhood, the premiere of the municipal carol by Luis Tevez and the subsequent Christmas lighting in the Parque de las Eras. Ceremony that will be repeated in the center of San Sebastián starting at 8:00 p.m. and will conclude with the inauguration of the ice rink.
