The symbolic lighting, together with the live broadcast, marked a special day for the town
The night of San Juan, the most magical of the Vallehermoso calendar, was once again illuminated by the burning of the three symbolic bonfires in the neighborhoods of La Pilarica, Los Rosales and La Ladera in an event that, for the first time, was broadcast live on social networks. An event that keeps the flame of tradition alive and was followed by hundreds of neighbors through their mobile devices.
The City Council involved the neighbors in this celebration, making them the protagonists of the tribute to San Juan who, from their homes, symbolically accompanied the patron saint. The City Council delivered more than two hundred torches along with the mastranto, an aroma that is part of the collective memory of this celebration and a romance that put words to the feelings of the people of Vallehermoso.
Along with this, the town was decorated for the occasion with pencas in what should have been the route of the procession that, due to restrictions, could not be held but that was symbolically arranged along with the flower carpets at the most important points such as the main street or the church square itself.
The ringing of the bells gave the signal to those in charge of lighting in unison the three bonfires - along with the two in Alojera - with which this emotional act began, which was reciprocated with fireworks and flying from each of the points. The neighbors lit the torches from their homes and the representatives of the three bonfires deposited the tribute of the fire of San Juan in the church, a tradition and feeling that survives in the hearts of the neighbors.
“Despite the restrictions, we wanted to symbolize the unity of our town around the patron saint, the fire and the tradition and that we have been able to organize it and bring it through live broadcast to all the neighbors, and with such a good reception, it is something that fills us with satisfaction,” explains the mayor, Emiliano Coello.
