The day will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the Plaza de Alajeró, with proposals related to traditional games, new technologies, creativity and physical well-being

The initiative of the Cabildo and APEDECA brings to the island's municipalities care, guidance and support resources aimed especially at older people
The Cabildo of La Gomera continues this Friday, August 7, in Alajeró, with the program of information days of the 'La Gomera Acompaña' project. The activity will take place in the Plaza de Alajeró, between 10:00 and 13:00, and will be open to older people, their families and the general public.
The day will allow you to learn directly about the objectives, services and access routes to this project, developed by the island Institution in cooperation with the Association to Help People with Dependency in the Canary Islands (APEDECA). In addition to offering information and answering questions for attendees, the program incorporates practical and participatory activities aimed at promoting coexistence, social relationships and active aging.
The meeting will begin at 10:00 a.m. with the reception of the participants and the presentation of the team and the project. Next, traditional games will be developed, a practical introduction to the use of new technologies and a rest space to talk and share.
The programming will continue with creative activities and crafts, a 'Pasapalabra canario' focused on words, customs and expressions of the islands, and a yoga session with gentle mobility and breathing exercises. The day will conclude with a space dedicated to answering questions and explaining how to participate in 'La Gomera Acompaña'.
The president of the Cabildo, Casimiro Curbelo, highlighted on the occasion of the launch of the itinerant service that this initiative allows the project to be brought closer to the towns and makes it easier for older people, their families and citizens to know the support available, regardless of the municipality or nucleus in which they reside.
Likewise, he pointed out that, given the aging of the population and the geographical dispersion of La Gomera, it is essential to promote close and accessible social policies, capable of reaching homes and anticipating possible situations of isolation.
For her part, the insular Minister of Social Policy, Rosa Elena García, explained that these sessions have a practical, participatory nature and are open to citizens, and seek both to publicize the operation of the project and to generate meeting spaces that favor social relations, community participation and active aging.
Comprehensive and personalized attention
'La Gomera Acompaña' is aimed mainly at people over 65 years of age who may find themselves in situations of social vulnerability, relational fragility, lack of support networks or difficulties in accessing available resources.
The project aims to prevent and reduce unwanted loneliness and social isolation through comprehensive, personalized care focused on the personal, emotional, social and material needs of each participant.
Its benefits include support at home, individual and group support, attention to social and emotional needs, guidance on resources and benefits, promotion of personal autonomy and coordination with social, health and community services. The initiative has an investment of more than 142,000 euros.
