La Gomera reinforces its positioning in the Nordic market with participation in fairs in Norway and Sweden

The island consolidates its presence in the Scandinavian market after an intense promotional agenda at the TravelXpo fairs in Norway and 60+ Uppsala in Sweden

Last week, La Gomera participated in several fairs in Norway and Sweden in order to reinforce its position as a reference destination in northern Europe. The island was present at the 60plus Mässan in Uppsala and at the TravelXpo in Oslo, two key events to attract a traveler profile that prioritizes sustainability, contact with nature and quality experiences over mass tourism.

The island's Minister of Tourism, Commerce and Consumer Affairs, María Isabel Méndez, positively valued the reception of the island by visitors at both events. «Our presence in Uppsala and Oslo has been fundamental in reaffirming that La Gomera is the destination that best meets the current expectations of the Scandinavian market. "We have detected a growing interest in slow and conscious tourism, where gastronomy and natural and cultural heritage are the true protagonists of the travel experience," he stated.

Likewise, he stressed the importance of maintaining a constant physical presence in these markets to retain the loyalty of a tourist with a higher average spending. «The Nordic traveler is not only looking for sun and beach; but a destination with a real commitment to sustainability, values that our island represents perfectly thanks to its adherence to the European Charter for Sustainable Tourism. With these actions, we not only promote a place, but a lifestyle and a responsible development model.

The promotional activity began in the Swedish city of Uppsala on March 18 and 19, where La Gomera had its own stand at 60plus Mässan, the region's most important lifestyle event for people over 60 years of age. At this fair, the excellent connectivity between Arlanda airport and Tenerife South was highlighted, a factor that facilitates the arrival of a tourist looking for long stays. The promotion focused on the diversity of experiences the island offers, from its network of trails to whale watching.

Subsequently, from March 20 to 22, the island moved its offer to the NOVA Spektrum venue in Lillestrøm, on the outskirts of Oslo, to participate in TravelXpo 2026. This event, established as the largest showcase of the vacation sector in Norway, served to strengthen ties with major tour operators such as Ving, TUI and Apollo, as well as agencies specialized in hiking such as Norrona Hvitserk. During the fair days, the La Gomera stand offered detailed information about its accommodation offer and its landscapes, underlining the status of the island as a Biosphere Reserve and the exceptional nature of the Garajonay National Park.
