The initiative will pay tribute to the women who work in the Garajonay National Park and will highlight their contribution to the conservation and management of the natural heritage of La Gomera.
The Gara Women's Association will celebrate next Thursday, October 15, the IX Commemoration of the International Day of Rural Women, an initiative that this year is titled "Mujeres de Monte" and that will be dedicated to recognizing the trajectory, effort and work of professional women who carry out their activity in the Garajonay National Park.
The event will take place at the Juego de Bolas Visitor Center, in the municipality of Agulo, and aims to make visible the fundamental role of these women in the conservation, protection, management and sustainable development of the territory, as well as their contribution to preserving one of the most valuable natural spaces of La Gomera.
Through this tribute, the Gara Women's Association wants to recognize women whose work is essential for the care of the natural and rural environment, highlighting both their visible work and those lesser-known tasks that, day after day, contribute to keeping the natural heritage of the island alive.
This edition constitutes the ninth commemoration organized by the Gara Women's Association on the occasion of the International Day of Rural Women, a trajectory that reflects the entity's continued commitment to the recognition of rural women, the visibility of their contributions and the defense of their role in the social, economic and cultural development of La Gomera.
Likewise, the conference is organized for the second consecutive year in collaboration with AIDER La Gomera, consolidating a line of joint work that allows uniting the gender perspective with knowledge and defense of the rural environment. This collaboration highlights the importance of generating alliances between entities that share objectives, joining efforts and developing common initiatives that amplify the recognition of women and their contribution to the territory.
Both entities are committed to a commemoration built from cooperation, understanding that the enhancement of rural women requires meeting spaces, shared work and collective commitment. A union that allows us to address this reality from different perspectives and move towards an increasingly broad recognition of the women who sustain, care for and transform the rural environment.
With "Mujeres de Monte", the Gara Women's Association and AIDER La Gomera continue to promote awareness and recognition actions that place women at the center of rural development and the conservation of natural heritage, vindicating their trajectory and their essential contribution to the present and future of La Gomera.
