Jesús Ramos defends the importance of promoting internationalization and cooperation with Africa

The deputy spokesperson of the Gomera Socialist Group Parliamentary Group proposes highlighting the role of the Canary Islands in the Third Africa Plan of the State
Ramos indicates that “island companies could take advantage of the options that are opening up on the neighboring continent”
The deputy spokesperson for the Gomera Socialist Group Parliamentary Group (ASG), Jesús Ramos, defended today, the 7th, the need to reinforce the internationalization of the Canarian economy, especially in Africa, as well as to build bridges to promote cooperation and commercial opportunities between both territories.
"Our proximity to Africa is undeniable and this continent is currently experiencing the so-called 'economic awakening', which means that countless commercial and cooperation opportunities are opening up in the 54 countries of the continent, opportunities that our companies could take advantage of if they are helped to establish themselves and given the necessary updated information," explained the deputy.
Ramos valued the work carried out by Proexca, although he noted that "our coverage in Africa is limited because we only have a presence in Senegal, Mauritania, Cape Verde and Morocco", which is why he insisted on carrying out "an effort to internationalize our companies on the neighboring continent, especially working closely with the State Government." Along these lines, he proposed requesting the State, through the ministry's foreign trade delegations, to facilitate this insertion in countries where we do not have a presence.
"At ASG we consider that a boost can be given to the Third Africa Plan, which was recently approved by the State, since we consider that it is a document in which the Canary Islands could have a more relevant role given its geopolitical position, so we hope that in the future a new plan takes into account the potential of the Islands," he argued. “Another thing that we must ask of the State is that, when a new national budget is projected, it takes into account the Economic and Fiscal Regime (REF) that establishes aid for the internationalization of Canarian companies.
In the opinion of the Gomero deputy, "another way to link with our neighboring continent is through Casa África, since it would be a mistake on our part not to collaborate closely with this entity in our task of development cooperation and in the way of enhancing our commercial links with the continent."
