The device has 48 operators, remains active 24 hours a day and has a daily schedule that covers the 17 island routes.

During July, cleaning, clearing, signage and improvement of road elements were carried out, in addition to addressing the incidents reported by CECOPIN
During these weeks, the Cabildo of La Gomera reinforces the conservation and maintenance operation of the island's road network, coinciding with one of the summer periods in which there is a greater influx of visitors and a significant increase in the number of vehicles that circulate on the island's roads.
The special device allows you to expand the coverage of ordinary maintenance work and guarantee the ability to respond to accidents, landslides, obstacles on the road, breakdowns and any other incident that may affect safety and mobility.
The president of the Cabildo, Casimiro Curbelo, explained that "we are facing a few weeks of high mobility, so it is essential to anticipate and have the necessary human and material means to keep the roads in good condition and act quickly in the event of any unforeseen event."
Curbelo recalled that the island Institution allocates 3.5 million euros annually to this service, which remains operational 24 hours a day throughout the year. It is made up of 48 operators and has a daily schedule of actions that covers the 17 island routes.
"The reinforcement of these weeks aims to ensure that the increase in traffic does not reduce our response capacity. Preventive conservation, cleaning and immediate attention to incidents are essential to guarantee safer travel, both for the resident population and for those who visit us," he added.
During the month of July, conservation and maintenance crews carried out irrigation, cleaning and conditioning work on gardens, as well as clearing and cleaning ditches and roadsides.
Actions were also carried out to place vertical signs, install metal and wooden barriers and place road reflectors. Added to these tasks were the horizontal signaling works carried out on GM-1.
The operation also carried out the scheduled cleaning of stops and viewpoints. These interventions included the disinfection and cleaning of walls and floors, sweeping the spaces and replacing the bags in the trash cans, with the purpose of improving the conservation of areas especially used during the summer.
Curbelo highlighted that “the coordination and permanent availability of personnel allows us to offer an effective response anywhere on the island.” In this sense, he stressed that "the maintenance of roads is a basic service for the territorial cohesion of La Gomera and to ensure communications between the municipalities."
