The insular Institution will have a bus service from its municipalities to San Sebastián de La Gomera to carry out the university entrance exams
The Cabildo of La Gomera will enable a transfer service for students taking the EBAU exams on the island. This was confirmed by the island president, Casimiro Curbelo, who explained that the measure allows the mobility of young people residing outside of San Sebastián and that they must travel to the island capital to take the university entrance tests, which are held between July 1 and 4, in their ordinary call.
Curbelo explained that this initiative responds to the Institution's commitment to support families and students, facilitating, in this case, mobility within the island, but that it joins other actions such as free textbooks or the free transportation service that these students use on their weekly trips to the study center.
He announced that the Cabildo will maintain the amounts allocated to students and that this year they have increased by 9% to two million euros for scholarships, free mobility and agreements with Canarian universities. In this sense, he recalled that 187 scholarship applications are still being processed and are pending resolution, due to the suspension of administrative deadlines during the State of Alarm.
Processing the application to benefit from the service
The Minister of Education, Rosa Elena García, explained that a space will be enabled on the Cabildo's website so that students who need this service can formalize their request. The submission deadline will be made public during the next week, at which time the processing will begin.
