The Cabildo of La Gomera asks for extreme caution before the passage of Storm Francis

The insular Institution recommends avoiding proximity to ravine beds, coastal areas and exercising extreme caution on the road network due to the forecast of rain, wind and coastal phenomena.

The Cabildo of La Gomera calls on the population to exercise extreme caution in the face of the passage of Storm Francis through the island, taking into account the adverse weather forecast and the activation, by the General Directorate of Security and Emergencies of the Government of the Canary Islands, of the alert for coastal phenomena, as well as the pre-alert for rain and winds.

The insular Institution urges citizens to avoid proximity to ravine beds, not to travel or park in flood-prone areas, to exercise extreme caution in coastal areas, and to circulate with caution on the island's road network, given the possibility of landslides resulting from precipitation and wind.

The insular Emergency Counselor, Héctor Cabrera, explained that “we are facing an episode that requires maximum attention and individual responsibility, which is why we ask the population to reduce unnecessary trips and follow the self-protection recommendations at all times.”

Likewise, he insisted on the importance of staying informed exclusively through the official channels of the Cabildo de La Gomera and 112 Canarias, as well as paying attention to the indications that are updated based on the evolution of the meteorological phenomenon.

In the event of any incident, you must contact 112 Canarias or the Island Operational Coordination Center (CECOPIN), at 922 14 15 01.
