The Las Nieves recreational area will host this day of coexistence within the programming of the Month of the Elderly
More than 300 seniors are expected to participate, with musical performances by Irinea Niebla, the Trío Zapatista, Mariachi Aluce and José Jiménez
The City Council of San Sebastián de La Gomera, through the Department of Social Policies and Equality, will celebrate next Saturday, October 17, the third Autumn Meeting, a day of coexistence within the programming of the Month of the Elderly. On this occasion, the meeting will take place in the recreational area of Las Nieves and will bring together more than 300 older people from the municipality.
Angélica Padilla, mayor of San Sebastián de La Gomera, said that "this year we have decided to change the location taking into account the comprehensive rehabilitation works that are being carried out in the Parque de la Torre del Conde, especially in the grass area. For this reason, the place chosen for this third Autumn Meeting has been the recreational area of Las Nieves, a place of enormous natural beauty and a square that has become a spectacular viewpoint."
In addition, Padilla reported that a special permit has been requested from the Parish of Our Lady of the Assumption to facilitate the access of the elderly to the hermitage, "because we know that they are especially excited to be able to visit the Virgin."
Padilla emphasized the importance of promoting these meeting spaces in a relaxed and festive atmosphere that, without a doubt, enrich coexistence and allow you to enjoy moments of leisure and recreation that have a positive impact on your mood.
Furthermore, the mayor added that the celebration of the third Autumn Meeting “constitutes a magnificent opportunity to publicly recognize the contribution of older people to the social, cultural and festive life of the municipality.”
For her part, the Councilor for Social Policies and Equality, Ana Campoy, stressed that "the Autumn Meeting is part of the programming launched on the occasion of the Month of the Elderly and aims to promote active aging and social relationships between the elderly in the municipality, strengthening their bonds of friendship."
Campoy added that this event "is conceived as a tribute to an entire generation that is an example of life with its effort, commitment and dedication."
The third Autumn Meeting will be held on Saturday, October 17 in the recreational area of Las Nieves, with the expected participation of about 300 people and musical performances by Irinea Niebla, the Trío Zapatista, Mariachi Aluce and José Jiménez.
