Curbelo: “We will continue to promote the improvement of healthcare in La Gomera”

The general secretary of the Gomera Socialist Group (ASG), Casimiro Curbelo, highlights the incorporation of the TAC and the progress towards the imminent start of the magnetic resonance works, two of the objectives set for the legislature
Tuesday, May 16. The candidate for the presidency of the Cabildo and the Parliament of the Canary Islands for ASG, Casimiro Curbelo, has shown his commitment to promoting the improvement of investment and primary care services in the Canary Islands, in such a way that the current needs in terms of infrastructure, diagnostic means and human resources can be met.
Likewise, he stressed that one of the priorities is to promote the execution of essential projects for the population of the different islands, especially in La Gomera, as is the case of the La Lomada Clinic in San Sebastián or the expansion of the Valle Gran Rey Health Center.
“We are aware, and we have to continue working on this, that we must increase the specialized, hospital and emergency care provided on all the islands and, especially, to continue with the improvements of these health services and consolidate the progress made in the last Legislature in the public health provided in the non-capital islands,” he stated.
"At this point, it must be highlighted that, thanks to the promotion of this training, in La Gomera, progress has been made in a multipurpose day hospital, the provision of CT and the beginning of works for the installation of magnetic resonance imaging, which allows the population to avoid traveling to perform these diagnostic tests," he stated.
In the opinion of the ASG leader, “this is the path to follow, promoting the provision and improvement of resources, especially in non-capital islands, in such a way that allows us to facilitate and improve care for citizens on their own islands of residence, a basic need if we take into account, especially, that a good part of the population is elderly.”
Curbelo also insisted that one of ASG's priorities for the next four years is "to reissue a comprehensive Mental Health Pact, which will allow for an adequate response to the psychosocial needs of the population of all the islands, contributing to improving the emotional, psychological and psychiatric response of public administrations."
Regarding the progress made in the last four years, in which ASG was part of the regional Government, it highlighted the increase in budget and personnel, especially in the years of the pandemic, in addition to the creation of the Primary Care Plan, with more than 60 million financial records and the forecast of incorporating 774 professionals of different categories and levels, among others.
