In March, the first Binter 'Fly Without Fear' courses will take place in Gran Canaria and Tenerife, a conference that the Canarian airline organizes every year to help all people who suffer from anxiety or discomfort when getting on a plane.
For 2020, the airline has currently scheduled seven editions that will take place in Gran Canaria and Tenerife in the months of March, May, June, October and November. The first course in Tenerife will be held on March 20 and 21, for which there are still places available.
A multidisciplinary team made up of psychologists, pilots, cabin crew and company personnel from the Binter system is in charge of teaching these courses and transmitting to students the knowledge, techniques and confidence necessary to fly again.
Each edition lasts two days, Friday afternoon and Saturday full time, and includes a theoretical and a practical part. On Friday, psychological preparation begins, both before the trip and during the flight. In addition, technical information about the plane and the flight is provided, to help participants dismantle many of the arguments behind the phobia.
On Saturday, psychological preparation for a real flight and more technical areas such as meteorological information or the training and control of pilots and cabin crew are worked on. After visiting the cabin of the plane, a flight between islands is carried out with the direct support of the team that teaches the course and, after having lunch on the destination island, the return flight is undertaken.
An effectiveness rate greater than 90%
Binter has extensive experience in carrying out 'Flying Without Fear' courses, which have an effectiveness rate of over 90% and which since 2011 have seen more than 610 participants in 51 editions.
Due to the need for personalized treatment, the maximum capacity for each course is 12 participants.
