ASG demands aid to alleviate the damage caused by storms in the Canarian countryside

The spokesperson for the Gomera Socialist Group Parliamentary Group Casimiro Curbelo maintains that there is a part of the crops that is not covered by insurance
The spokesperson for the Gomera Socialist Group (ASG) Parliamentary Group, Casimiro Curbelo, highlighted this Tuesday, the 10th, the need to articulate aid to alleviate the damage caused in the Canarian countryside by the meteorological episodes suffered in recent weeks, which have caused a significant impact on the agricultural sector and various public infrastructures.
"The truth is that the primary sector faces certain difficulties, to which have been added the episodes of major meteorological phenomena, with strong gusts of wind, which caused a significant impact on the primary sector," Curbelo indicated during his speech. “These episodes damaged different crops, including bananas, in different areas of the islands of Tenerife, Gran Canaria, La Palma, El Hierro and La Gomera, mainly,” he stated.
In this sense, the ASG deputy in the regional Chamber advocated for the Government of the Canary Islands to articulate some line of aid to deal with this situation, "since, although there are some crops that are covered by insurance, they do not cover the entire affected agricultural area."
Curbelo explained that the councils are collaborating with the regional Executive to evaluate the damage caused and thus know, first-hand, how much the damage recorded amounts to. "We must help an economic sector such as the primary sector, which is already going through significant difficulties, to face this situation, so that they can look to the future and overcome various adversities," he stressed.
