ASG Alajeró asks the City Council to rectify the omission of the Cabildo in the poster for the El Cerco parking lot works

The municipal group remembers that the action carried out in Playa de Santiago has been possible thanks to the resources transferred by the Cabildo of La Gomera to the Alajeró City Council

Wednesday, May 6. Gomera Socialist Group (ASG) in the Alajeró City Council has requested the municipal government group to rectify the content of the information poster installed in the paving and conditioning works of the El Cerco public parking lot, in Playa de Santiago, considering that it unjustifiably omits that this action is carried out with funds transferred by the La Gomera Cabildo to the City Council.

The municipal spokesperson for ASG, Héctor Cabrera, regretted that "the City Council has decided to hide on the official signage that this work has financing from the Island Council, when precisely it was institutional cooperation that allowed this action to be promoted, so necessary for Playa de Santiago."

Cabrera recalled that the agreement signed between both administrations allowed resources to be allocated for the adaptation and paving of this large parking area located next to the maritime avenue, an infrastructure considered strategic to improve mobility and facilitate access to the coastal center.

“The minimum required in an action financed with public resources transferred by another administration is to act with transparency and institutionally recognize the origin of those funds,” said the spokesperson, who insisted that “it is not about political prominence, but about respect for citizens and collaboration between institutions.”

From ASG Alajeró they emphasize that the Cabildo of La Gomera has maintained a constant line of financial support for municipal projects linked to the improvement of services and infrastructure, especially in Playa de Santiago, where the increase in activity and changes in mobility require new parking and accessibility solutions.

In this sense, Cabrera reiterated that "the expansion and conditioning of the El Cerco parking lot responds to a historical demand from neighbors and users, and has been possible thanks to the commitment of the Cabildo with the municipality of Alajeró."

For this reason, ASG requests that the City Council proceed to correct the work poster and visibly incorporate the reference to island financing "as corresponds to any action developed from institutional loyalty and respect for the truth of the facts."
