The City Council allocates 936,490.08 euros to two actions that will modernize essential services, improve road safety and advance the creation of public spaces adapted to climate change
The Vallehermoso City Council has awarded two new actions for a combined amount of 936,490.08 euros, aimed at improving the infrastructure and public spaces of the municipality. It involves the construction of a new wastewater treatment plant in Chipude, with an investment of 472,063.74 euros, and the execution of the Vertical Garden project, budgeted at 464,426.34 euros.
Both projects respond to different needs, but share the objective of continuing to modernize municipal infrastructure, improve the services received by the population and move towards a more sustainable development model adapted to the characteristics of the territory.
The planned action in Chipude includes the installation of a modern wastewater treatment station, designed to respond to the current needs of the resident population and guarantee the capacity of the service in the face of future demands.
The new infrastructure will be adapted to the particularities of the environment, making it possible to improve wastewater treatment and reinforce an essential service for this core of the municipality.
For its part, the Vertical Garden project contemplates a comprehensive intervention in one of the main accesses to the center of Vallehermoso, specifically on the road that connects with the towns of Morera and Garabato, from its connection with the GM-1 highway.
The work includes the construction of a protective slope intended to improve the safety of the road, which will also serve as a support structure for the installation of a vertical garden. This solution will allow road protection to be combined with landscape integration and the beautification of one of the main entry points to the town.
Security, landscape and adaptation to climate change
The project also incorporates the improvement and conditioning of the existing park in the area, with the aim of recovering and enhancing this public space, encouraging its use by neighbors and visitors.
This intervention acquires special relevance due to its connection with adaptation strategies to climate change, since the park is among the spaces proposed for incorporation into the inventory of climate refuges being prepared by the Government of the Canary Islands.
In this way, the City Council seeks to advance the creation of public spaces that, in addition to fulfilling a recreational and landscape function, can offer better comfort conditions to the population in the face of increasing temperatures and the effects of climate change.
The mayor of Vallehermoso, Emiliano Coello, highlights that "these two actions represent our commitment to continue improving the municipality from different areas, addressing both essential services, such as sanitation, as well as the safety of our roads and the recovery of public spaces."
Coello points out that "the investment of nearly one million euros will allow us to respond to important needs in Chipude and in access to the town, also incorporating solutions that help us adapt our spaces to new environmental challenges."
The City Council emphasizes that both awards are part of municipal planning to improve infrastructure and public services, with actions aimed at strengthening the quality of life of residents and continuing to advance in a safer, more functional and sustainable municipality.
