La Gomera celebrates this Sunday the XVI Insular Meeting of the Mayor in Vallehermoso

A day of coexistence and celebration with recognitions and musical shows starring artists from La Gomera, La Palma and El Hierro

Vallehermoso hosts this Sunday, July 20, the XVI edition of the Insular Meeting of the Mayor, an event already consolidated in the annual calendar of the island, organized by the Cabildo of La Gomera and framed in the Lustral Festivals in honor of Our Lady the Virgin of Carmen. The event will bring together hundreds of people from all municipalities at the municipal Soccer Field, converted into the scene of a festive, cultural and emotional day.

Participants will be able to enjoy an extensive program that will begin with the departure of the image of the Virgen del Carmen from the church of San Juan Bautista, followed by its reception with a performance by the group Coros y Danzas de La Gomera. The traditional Eucharist, scheduled for 12:00 p.m., will be presided over by parish priest David Kevin Barroso Hernández.

Starting at 1:00 p.m., the main meeting space will open, at which time the convivial lunch will begin, accompanied by the musical show “July, a month for three meetings.” This will feature performances by Gomero soloists Eduardo Duque, Daniel Ventura, Diego Chinea and Francisco Martín, along with Daniel Cruz (La Palma) and Óliver Cabrera (El Hierro), accompanied by musicians Javier González and David Duque.

At 3:00 p.m. there will be a comedy show with Maestro Florido. Subsequently, at 3:30 p.m., the institutional ceremony of recognition of the Elderly Associations of La Gomera will be held, with a special mention to Doña Isaura Medina, and tribute will be paid to the oldest seniors of the host municipality. The president of the Island Council, Casimiro Curbelo, will participate in this event; the mayor of Vallehermoso, Emiliano Coello; and the insular counselor of Social Services, Rosa Elena García.

The musical finale will be, starting at 4:00 p.m., the show “Pa La Gomera”, which will bring together on stage the great voices that were part of the legendary Gomera orchestras: Doris Cabeza (Orquesta Los Hermanos Chávez), Teresita Negrín (Orquesta Los Bajip), Marinery Hernández (Orquesta Chinguarime), Tomás Duque (Orquesta Wamampy), Miguel Ángel García (Gomera Orchestra), David Muñoz (Rokecan Orchestra), Esteban Gorrín Jiménez (Marina Orchestra), Esteban Gorrín Moreno (Timisay Orchestra) and Juan Manuel Álvarez (Atlantic). All this accompanied by the guitar plucking of Emilio Negrín.
