Jesús Ramos: “We must promote all possible measures that stimulate and protect small businesses”
The ASG deputy spokesperson highlights the work carried out by the Ministry of Tourism, Industry and Commerce to stimulate the activity of these SMEs to contribute to economic recovery
Underlines the need to continue developing the discount bonus program to encourage sales, with the aim of identifying weaknesses to turn them into opportunities and strengths.
The deputy spokesperson for the Gomera Socialist Group Parliamentary Group (ASG), Jesús Ramos, assured this Thursday that all the measures that are activated in order to promote and protect the trade on which numerous families in the Islands depend are welcome. For this reason, he supported the work that is being carried out by the Ministry of Tourism, Industry and Commerce, directed by Yaiza Castilla, since as he explained, "since the crisis began, intense work has been done by and for the commercial sector, through various initiatives, campaigns and collaborations with local entities."
Regarding a NLP related to trade bonds, which was debated in this week's plenary session, Ramos defended an amendment in which he advocated continuing with the discount bond program, launched in November 2020 by the Regional Executive Council, with the purpose of analyzing the results of the pilot test, identifying possible problems and converting them into strengths and opportunities. A measure that he considered appropriate to extend to the Culture area in a transversal cooperation campaign to enhance and promote these trade bonuses.
He recalled that cities such as Santa Cruz de Tenerife have already launched similar initiatives, which is why he stressed the importance of knowing and analyzing the results of both this municipal program and the regional program, so that there is accurate data that identifies possible weaknesses and paves the way towards improving this project at a regional level. "In this crisis situation we cannot rush, committing public funds without first ensuring that the project will operate at full capacity, so it is necessary to be cautious and far-sighted," he added.
On the other hand, he encouraged the Canary Islands Government to work hand in hand with the councils and town councils in promoting campaigns that encourage the economy of small and local businesses in the Islands on which numerous families depend, emphasizing the commercial revitalization plans in open areas. “The revitalization of commercial areas is essential when it comes to generating business and employment opportunities, which now becomes more important with this crisis,” he added.
