The project, with an investment of 798,770.28 euros, also includes the construction of two paddle tennis courts and will allow expanding the sports, health and rehabilitation offer of the municipality

The Hermigua City Council is contemplating the execution of a project for the construction of a new outdoor pool and solarium at the Santa Catalina facilities, with the aim of expanding the general use of this space and reinforcing its character of public use, both for residents and for those who visit the municipality, both in winter and summer.

The project, approved by the Local Government Board last March 12, has a budget of 798,770.28 euros, taxes included, and is currently in the bidding phase, after its publication last September 14. Interested companies will be able to submit their offers until the next October 14, establishing an execution period of six months.

The action is financed by the La Gomera Town Council, through the programs PEAKS 2026/2027, for the amount of 283,516.20 euros, while the Hermigua City Council will assume, from the municipal budget, the 515,254.08 euros remaining.

With this action, the Santa Catalina facilities will expand their current offering, incorporating a outdoor pool and solarium that will complement the current heated pools. In this way, the aim is to promote greater use of the facilities and offer new possibilities for leisure, physical activity and well-being for citizens.

The project also contemplates the annexed construction of two paddle tennis courts, thus expanding the sports offer available in the municipality and configuring a space intended not only for sports practice, but also for activities related to health, well-being and rehabilitation.

The mayor of Hermigua, Solveida Clemente, highlights that this infrastructure “It means continuing to advance in the improvement and expansion of the Santa Catalina facilities, providing the municipality with new spaces for sports practice, but also for well-being, health and rehabilitation.”

"We want these facilities to be used increasingly and to be enjoyed by both our neighbors and those who visit us. The incorporation of an outdoor pool, a solarium and the new paddle tennis courts will allow us to expand the possibilities of use of this complex"says Clemente.

The mayor adds that the City Council's objective is that “These facilities can be made available to citizens before the end of the year., once the planned work is completed and the corresponding administrative deadlines are met”.

“We are talking about a performance that goes beyond the strictly sporting function. We want Santa Catalina to also be a space for health, wellness and rehabilitation, offering new resources that respond to the needs of our neighbors and that, at the same time, contribute to improving the municipality's offering”, concludes the mayor.
