The City Council asks residents not to use the supply water for irrigation, filling swimming pools or washing the car.
The Hermigua City Council has asked the residents of the municipality to make responsible use of drinking water, given the scarcity of water resources due to the drought that the island is suffering this year and the increase in consumption that is beginning to rebound in recent weeks, coinciding with the end of confinement and the increase in visitors to apartments and rural houses.
Likewise, the Consistory reminds that water for consumption should not be used to fill swimming pools, nor to irrigate orchards or wash vehicles, which would put at risk the levels of reserves that Hermigua has.
In this sense, emphasis is placed on the rebound that is occurring in the Los Aceviños neighborhood and that is causing the regulatory deposits to not be sufficient to meet consumption. For this reason, homeowners in the area are asked to make a special effort to reduce consumption to a minimum and raise customer awareness, since otherwise there is the possibility that it will be necessary to carry out selective cuts, at night, with the aim of guaranteeing the recovery of the levels of the supply tanks.
Along with this, and in general, the population is recommended to minimize its use in construction sites, companies and homes. For this last section, it is recommended to adopt habits that optimize consumption, especially in washing machines and dishwashers. In addition, the installation of economizers in taps and showers is recommended, as well as saving systems in toilets and rainwater and gray water recoverers.
