The “Fluye” project ends its journey

The “Fluye” project ends its journey

After six months it came to an end, fulfilling the objectives set, among which was contributing to the employability of 28 unemployed people in the municipality.

The Adeje city council, through the departments of Municipal Services and Economic Development, chaired by Esther Rivero Vargas and Raquel Rodríguez Alonso, respectively, and together with the Adeje Municipal Services Company (EMSA), carried out the “Fluye” project, in which certain ravines and natural channels, road margins and, in general, the natural environments of the municipality of Adeje were conditioned.

The “Fluye” project lasted six months, with a budget of more than three hundred thousand euros, for the hiring of 28 people, of which 25 were garden workers, 2 managers and an administrative assistant, who were unemployed and also presented indicators of risk and social exclusion. “This initiative aimed to contribute to the labor inclusion of this group of people in the municipality, in addition to serving and responding, with the work contemplated in the project, for the benefit of citizens,” explained the responsible councilors.

The work itself consisted of weeding, pruning, control and elimination of invasive species, cleaning of belongings and garbage in ravines, especially in those that are natural rainwater channels and, therefore, must be free of natural materials or garbage that become risks in times of heavy rain.

“This project was developed in the municipal Services Company (EMSA) because having other tasks such as maintenance and gardening, it has all the necessary logistics, offices, vehicles and machinery necessary for the actions,” said the Councilor for Services, Esther Rivero Vagas.

“Fluye” was accompanied by training pills, from the professional hand of Gesplan, related to the job carried out by the gardening assistants, including: health and safety, eradication of invasive plants, handling methods, special tools, personal protective equipment, etc.

Among the areas that were included in this project are the important ravines and channels in Las Torres, Roque del Conde and El Inglés, as well as Bentinerfe Street, Torviscas Alto, San Eugenio Alto, Callao Salvaje, among others.
