The Minister of Mobility, Cristina Ventura, announces new calls for 2027 with the aim of expanding training and employment opportunities in the sector

The Cabildo of La Gomera has completed the first training action of the 'Gomera en Ruta' project, an initiative that has benefited 23 people and is aimed at improving professional qualifications and facilitating access to employment in the transport of passengers and goods. The training, developed in collaboration with the Federation of Transport Employers (FET), has had an insular investment of 50 thousand euros.

The Minister of Mobility, Cristina Ventura, highlighted that "with this first action we have brought specialized training closer to 23 people from La Gomera, eliminating the economic barrier that preparing to work in professional transport can entail. Our objective is that those who want to develop their future work in this sector find opportunities to do so on the island."

The program has been distributed in four modalities, adapted to the training needs of the participants. Five have benefited from training for the D permit and the CAP for travelers; eight, corresponding to the C permit and the merchandise CAP; another five, from the preparation for the C permit; and five more, than that intended for permit D.

Ventura stressed that this initiative responds to the needs of an essential sector for La Gomera. "The mobility of the population and the transportation of goods require professionals with adequate training. Supporting their training means reinforcing a service on which both the daily lives of our neighbors and the island's economic activity depend," he noted.

The counselor announced that the Council will continue the project with new calls during 2027, with the purpose of expanding access to this training and meeting the demand of people interested in joining the sector professionally. "This first action will continue next year. We want more people to be able to access this opportunity and continue advancing in a training offer linked to the transportation needs in La Gomera," said Ventura.
