Students will be able to receive a maximum of 2,700 euros depending on the months of training outside the Canary Islands, after increasing the overall amount to 80 thousand euros
Applications will be processed electronically through the Cabildo's Electronic Headquarters until next October 3
The Cabildo of La Gomera opens this coming Monday the application period for the Erasmus and Sicue scholarships, aimed at students studying higher education at universities in Europe and participating in these mobility programs. With this aid, the insular Institution reinforces its commitment to access to training under equal conditions for young people from La Gomera.
The president, Casimiro Curbelo, explained that this program represents an additional effort by the Corporation to support the families of the island. In this sense, he specified that the objective is that “no student sees their training possibilities limited by residing on a non-capital island.”
In addition, he stressed that mobility and access to international experiences enrich the academic and personal career of students, and added that the Cabildo maintains its commitment to strengthening these lines of support each year.
For her part, the Minister of Education, Rosa Elena García, highlighted that the processing of applications will be carried out exclusively electronically until October 3, through the Cabildo's Electronic Headquarters, which will speed up the deadlines.
“We have worked to ensure that aid reaches students in the shortest possible time, guaranteeing transparency and effectiveness,” he noted. Likewise, he noted that the department's work focuses on accompanying students throughout the entire process so that no request goes unanswered.
The island Institution allocates 2.2 million euros to different lines of cooperation in educational matters, including the acquisition of textbooks, support for student transportation and agreements with Canary Islands universities and the UNED.
