Several agreements approved that will allow, among others, to request collaboration from the Canarian Police for security tasks in the municipality
This Thursday, September 24, the Hermigua City Council held an ordinary plenary session that was marked by the approval of several agreements and the support of a set of motions with a marked social character.
Thus, the councilors gave their approval to the signing of the collaboration agreement between the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands, through the Department of Territorial Policy, Sustainability and Security, and the Hermigua City Council, which will facilitate cooperation with the Canarian Police force. A document that will make it possible to request human and material resources from the autonomous body to give residents a more agile and effective response in terms of security, at the same time that progress is made in the selective process that will allow the Local Police force to be provided with the troops that the municipality needs.
Along with this, the plenary session ratified the new agreement with the Urban and Natural Environment Protection Agency. An organization that ensures urban and environmental legality in the Canary Islands and that will assume the powers of inspection, supervision, sanction and restoration for violations of municipal regulations and urban planning regarding rural land.
Finally, with regard to the resolution part of the Plenary, it was approved to declare the Canary Islands Technological Institute (ITC) as its own personified medium, which will allow the local institution to continue with the renewable energy projects that it plans in the municipality and that will allow the adaptation of some key infrastructures of the municipality.
Likewise, and at the proposal of the Joint Group, support was given to the motion relating to the manifesto of the Canarian Zero Poverty Platform, in commemoration of the International Day, who advocate for the eradication of poverty and putting the main focus on people, especially in this health emergency situation. To achieve this, we are committed to collaborating with programmed activities, as well as with international solidarity and social policy projects from each of the corresponding areas of the City Council.
Furthermore, the Plenary Session adhered to several motions, with a marked social nature, at the request of other City Councils. Among them, one in which the six town councils of La Gomera demand that their particular needs be taken into account when preparing the catalog of services contemplated by the Canary Islands Social Services Law. Among them, it is recalled that, with the current economic, structural and operational capacity of the island's municipalities, it will not be possible to assume the new powers, causing a saturation of municipal social services. For this reason, it is advocated to find a way that provides better resources and guarantees close, quality care.
In turn, support was shown to the Gara Women's Association group against the Government of the Canary Islands, having been excluded from the last call for projects charged to the personal income tax allocation; to the supervised housing of Valle Gran Rey and to the co-financing funds of the Government of the Canary Islands for the municipal Childhood and Family programs.
