Curbelo proposes including labor productivity in the agreements of administration personnel
The spokesperson for the Gomera Socialist Group (ASG) maintains that measures must be reinforced to encourage productivity, based on the negotiations established on collective agreements.
It details that more than 79 thousand workers do not go to their jobs daily for different reasons.
The spokesperson for the Gomera Socialist Group Parliamentary Group (ASG), Casimiro Curbelo, has proposed the inclusion of a productivity bonus for workers on the islands to promote work performance and reduce absenteeism, which in the case of the Canary Islands reaches 79 thousand workers, 8.6% of employees, being above the national average.
“This reality is dramatic and worrying, since it has a very negative impact on the rest of the workers, on economic growth, employment and, therefore, on public and private productivity,” said Curbelo, before insisting that work absenteeism “is unsustainable, but none of the actors involved do anything to prevent it.”
For this reason, he argued for the usefulness of measures that prioritize effort, productivity and combat absenteeism, based on the public administrations' own collective agreements. In addition to having more means of inspection.
Support for the salary increase of civil servants
Curbelo reaffirmed his favorable position on the salary increase announced by the State for public administration personnel. “Their rights must always be respected, promoted and defended, but we must also demand responsibility,” he said, before giving as an example the labor agreement of the Cabildo de La Gomera, “which is one of the best collective agreements in the country.”
