The actions of the 'Alajeró towards Sustainability and Development' project advance
towards its completion

They include the Computer Classroom, advertising panels and walkways, the calisthenics circuit
and a photovoltaic performance are part of this initiative

The actions that are part of the project called 'Alajeró towards Sustainability and
Development' that have been carried out over the last few months in this southern municipality
of La Gomera, are practically already completed, thus fulfilling the objective intended
an initiative of these characteristics belonging to the subsidy projects aimed at the
carrying out operations in accordance with the participatory local development strategy provided for in the
submeasure 19.2 of the Canary Islands Rural Development program FEADER 2014-2020 in La Gomera
promoted by the Municipal Council chaired by the socialist, Manuel Ramón Plasencia Barroso
whose town is a member of the 'Pact of Mayors for Climate and Energy'.

photovoltaic action in the town, specifically in the main building of the Town Hall.
In reference to the computer room, it is located in the Cultural House of Playa de Santiago and has been
equipped with equipment, a space accessible to the population with the aim of reducing the digital divide in the
municipality to improve or expand local basic services for the rural population, including
recreational and cultural activities, and related infrastructure thus creating a place that could be
used to carry out training for groups, including actions aimed at the unemployed and
older, as well as any entity, association or organization that requests the shared use of the
same.
On the other hand, and in relation to the project to create advertising panels and walkways, it is
improve accessibility and provide relevant information to the population of the municipality by acquiring
exhibition panels and the creation of access walkways to the municipal beaches located in Playa de
Santiago, which by the way have been awarded the Blue Flag for many years consecutively.
In this sense, the Local Corporation has worked for a long time to guarantee the
quality and continuous improvement of its services to the local population and tourists of the municipality. It also provides
more vulnerable groups such as children, the elderly or people with reduced mobility of a tool
that will allow them to enjoy a natural resource that also contributes to the benefit of their well-being and
health.
The third project called Calisthenics Circuit that will complete its execution in the coming days
tries to create a Calisthenics Circuit in the outdoor recreational area of ​​Merendero de La Junta (next to
to the gas station), equipped with the necessary material to be able to

develop the Calisthenics activity, including the conditioning of the space, such as flooring and
installation of devices and street furniture, which includes photovoltaic streetlights
inter alia. The main objective of the action is to create a space of attraction for the local population and
tourist, in which to be able to carry out this discipline without restrictions, at the same time that it is combined
Alajeró is a multidisciplinary municipality in which active tourism activities can be combined.

Biosphere of La Gomera, with the Climate and Sustainable Energy Action Plan (PACES) of Alajeró, and
the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (PMUS) of the municipality.
