La Gomera participates in the ITB Now 2021 in Berlin that begins this Tuesday
The Tourism Department of the Cabildo will be present at the most important fair in the tourism industry, which, for the first time, will be completely telematic
The island exposes its benefits for teleworking in times of pandemic and advances in a more ambitious promotion strategy for the recovery of the sector
Starting this Tuesday, La Gomera will participate in the ITB Now 2021 in Berlin, the most important tourism fair in the sector, which this edition will be completely telematic and for which the island has prepared a virtual stand with promotional content designed to capture the attention of what continues to be the main issuing market. The set of planned actions last until next Friday, March 12, and until then a program has been designed with agents and professionals in the sector.
The Minister of Tourism, María Isabel Méndez, highlighted the effort made by the Cabildo to participate in this event, in a very different context from previous editions. In this sense, he explained that at “this fair we want to reinforce the promotion of the island as a safe and guaranteed destination at a time when tourists are looking for spaces of this type to spend their vacations.”
Méndez pointed to the impact that La Gomera is having as a destination for digital nomads and family teleworking, causing accommodations such as holiday homes, rural houses or small tourist establishments “to benefit the most from these arrivals.” Thus, he advanced the commitment of the Ministry of Tourism to this segment, although he explained that the promotion in the ITB has a focus on the total recovery of the sector.
"We are at an important moment. Progress in vaccination will be decisive in giving strength to tourism, for this reason the agenda of ITB meetings and actions are aimed at reminding Germans that La Gomera is prepared to receive them," he indicated, before emphasizing the promotional strategy maintained since last year with important publications in the media of German-speaking countries and campaigns on social networks.
La Gomera has a virtual stand at the fair within the space dedicated to Turespaña and Promotur. In this scenario, multimedia content is presented that incorporates maps, information about accommodations and services, along with training tools about the destination.
