Vallehermoso takes a new step to restore the Macayo Communal Winery

The Plenary supports assuming ownership of the same, which will allow work to begin with a budget of 35,000 from the funds of the European Ecotur project.

The Plenary Session of the Vallehermoso City Council has supported this Tuesday, July 7, the decision to assume public ownership of the Lagar Comunal de Macayo, thus allowing it to be restored using public funds.

“This procedure represents a new step on the path that we set a few years ago to convert this old structure into an open museum that would be a faithful reflection of the history of the residents of this area and its importance in the grape harvest,” highlighted its mayor, Emiliano Coello, who recalled that for this action there is a budget of 35,000 euros from the ecotourism project 'Ecotur'.

"Although time has taken its toll on this property, we want to preserve its identity, so we will proceed to recover not only this common property, but also open it to everyone as part of a living heritage that we must show to those who visit us," said Coello.

To this end, he announced that the next step will be to approve the reform project and then put its reform out to tender. “One more initiative to support the tourism promotion of Vallehermoso,” says Coello.

An intervention in the area that will be added to others carried out with the same European project in terms of signage, information, trails or the actions carried out in the Callejón del Palmar, all of them aimed at turning the municipality into a benchmark in ecotourism.
