Yes We Can Canary Islands requests the Cabildo to financially support the island artisan sector

·        The training requests the Council to reorient the budget of the economic item to promote crafts, so that aid is established for artisans who are in an emergency situation.

The councilor and insular spokesperson for the Sí Podemos Canarias group in the Cabildo of Tenerife, María José Belda, has communicated the proposal that her formation has transferred to the insular Corporation, which requests that a line of financial aid be enabled for workers in the insular artisanal sector, based on the budget item approved in the latest budgets of the Insular Council, for which an economic amount of 180,000 euros to promote the craft sector in Tenerife

Belda has stated that "given the economic slowdown that the world economy has suffered, and ours in particular, we must be vigilant of those professional sectors that this crisis may affect in a particularly relevant way, as is the case of our artisans, since an important part of this group depends directly on factors such as the street sale of their products, something that cannot be done in these circumstances."

For this reason, Belda considers it appropriate for the Cabildo to execute the proposal proposed by the Sí Podemos Canarias group, so that "the economic item that is contemplated in the budgets to promote this sector, incorporated thanks to an amendment from our group, is now reoriented to carry out concrete actions that prevent this new economic setback from leading to the disappearance of many jobs related to crafts on our Island."

“We believe that the necessary protection measures should be established to protect the professional activity carried out by our artisans, establishing a subsidy fund aimed at addressing the emergency situation in which these people find themselves, in order to cushion the abrupt loss of income they are experiencing.”

María José Belda affirms that “we have to guarantee that the granting of financial aid reaches the most vulnerable, those who live from direct sales at street level, so that no person is forgotten.”
