The 'Villa de Hermigua' mountain race has more than a hundred registered participants

This coming Wednesday the registration period for the different modalities ends

More than one hundred brave people will challenge the Hermigües orography in a test that is destined to be unique on the island. At least this is confirmed given the expectation that the V mountain race 'Villa de Hermigua' has created and that its registration period will close next Wednesday, February 12 for the distances of 20 kilometers, 10 kilometers, hiking and the children's race. In this way, and in the absence of adding the hikers and children who will participate in Saturday's route, the City Council hopes to exceed 120 runners in the two trail events.

Yordán Piñero, mayor of the municipality, anticipates that the City Council is taking the final steps to have everything prepared for the test that will be held on the weekend of February 15 and 16 "and which is also the starting signal for the sporting year on the island, but for Hermigua it is also already a test marked on our calendar and for which we firmly bet every year," he says.

For his part, the municipal sports manager, Jacob Piñero, explains that next week the safety coordination meeting will take place “for a test that has exceeded all expectations, since less than a week before registration closes, having more than one hundred confirmed runners speaks to the fact that this test, our landscapes and the quality of the route it offers is of high interest to athletes,” he says.

Added to this, without a doubt, is "betting on a children's and hiking modality, because we understand that it should be a test in which everyone, regardless of their physical condition, can participate, but also adding the possibility for families to also bet on this type of sporting activities, while visiting such emblematic places in Hermigua as the Montoro or Los Álamos area," says the Sports Councilor.

Registration for the V 'Villa de Hermigua' Mountain Race is open until the 12th through the council's website, as well as at the link https://bit.ly/2E5DQa1. The price of the modalities is 15 euros for the distance of 20 kilometers, 10 euros for the 10 kilometers and 8 euros for the hiking route, while the children's option is free. For this last test, registration will be processed on the same Saturday starting at 4:00 p.m., the moment prior to the departure of the little ones. The participation fee also includes promotional material, as well as the commemorative t-shirt for the event.
