Initiative for La Gomera (IxLG) asks the Cabildo for responsibility with the GM1 highway in the Epina cut

The left-wing political formation criticizes the inability of the person responsible for the area, Aníbal R. González Mendoza, in managing the GM1 works in Epina.

Initiative for La Gomera (IxLG) regrets that the work on the Epina highway is at a standstill since currently no work is being carried out on the road. The non-attached councilor of Vallehermoso and spokesperson for the formation, Alejandro García Vera, states "the residents of different neighborhoods, as well as visitors and tourist and economic activity, have been affected by this work. We insist that it is a very necessary work, but like everything that ASG manages in the Cabildo, it becomes a black hole of money and malfunctions from which we never seem to get out."

The councilor wants to remember that "the work was announced in May of last year, with a budget of 890 thousand euros from the Cabildo. From our local committee we had been denouncing the structural failures of the road for years so that a claim could be made against the winning company. Obviously they did not listen to us and that is costing us money from the Gomeras and Gomeros for such disastrous management."

In that sense, it is recalled that, for this and other reasons, the Initiative for La Gomera (IxLG) presented a motion requesting a disapproval of the councilor by the Vallehermoso City Council and that it was voted against. "The local government team voted against this motion, after communications were cut off for part of the day in the middle of August, after the Maritime Park opened in August and, after it had been announced that they would close the road for works for a month. They asked for a meeting about which nothing was ever heard. But it is a symptom of what is happening to the government team, which has more loyalty to whoever is in charge in the Cabildo than to its municipality, which is Vallehermoso" García Vera points out.

The left-wing party urges the head of the Cabildo's road area to expedite and take responsibility for the completion of said work, since this road cannot continue to be obstructed and work is not being done.

In turn, the counselor linked to the Initiative for La Gomera (IxLG), Aarón Rodríguez Ramos, has reported in different plenary sessions this situation that seriously affects island communications. "The work that was announced in May began in the middle of August and, as of today, we do not even know when its execution period ends. There is no work being done and there is no machinery either. We will convey to the rest of the opposition of the Council the more than justified disapproval of the counselor for his disastrous management in the face of what happened with this infrastructure," concludes the counselor.
