Endesa, through its Redes e-distribution subsidiary, has already started work to close an electrical ring in the municipality of Valle Gran Rey, in La Gomera.
This action, which will benefit more than half a thousand customers, will improve the resilience, quality and maintenance capacity of the distribution network.
The works have an investment of 1.1 million euros.
Deadlines and scope of work
The work, whose purpose is the ring connection of five distribution centers, has an approximate execution period of one year, so it is expected to be completed in the summer of 2027.
The work includes the construction of 1.4 kilometers of pipeline and the installation of 1.8 kilometers of medium voltage network. In addition, two distribution centers will be renovated and new motorized cells prepared for future remote control will be installed.
The infrastructure will run entirely underground along the Valle Gran Rey general highway (GM-1), Callejón La Puntilla, La Calera avenue (CV-8), and La Playa.
Expected benefits
Closing the electrical ring will make it possible to respond better to possible breakdowns and recover the supply to the area more quickly. The new configuration will provide a more resilient and higher quality network, in addition to facilitating maintenance tasks with less impact on supply to customers.
This intervention is part of the investment plan that Endesa, through e-distribution, is deploying to modernize and strengthen the distribution network in the Canary Islands, and which includes major actions aimed at increasing the resilience and reliability of the medium voltage network on the islands.
