Sonia Medina's firm, a member of the island program, will participate in the event that brings together designers from different Canary Islands fashion groups on October 2 and 3 in Los Llanos de Aridane.
Participation continues the Cabildo's strategy to expand the projection of La Gomera brands on the main catwalks and professional meetings of the Archipelago.
The Cabildo of La Gomera continues to reinforce the external projection of the island's creative talent through the 'La Gomera, Fashion and Magic' program, with the participation of the Savitri brand, created by Sonia Medina, in the new edition of La Palma Fashion Week, which is held on October 2 and 3 at the Benahoarita Archaeological Museum, in Los Llanos de Aridane.
La Palma Fashion Week will bring together the brands integrated into Isla Bonita Moda together with designers from other fashion groups in the Canary Islands, once again turning the Palma island into a meeting point for designer fashion, creativity and talent.
The island's Minister of Tourism, Commerce and Consumption, María Isabel Méndez, highlighted that Savitri's presence at this event "is part of the strategy that we develop from 'La Gomera, Moda y Magia' to facilitate the island's brands to access new promotional spaces, generate professional contacts and be able to show their work to audiences and agents linked to the fashion sector throughout the Archipelago."
Likewise, Méndez stressed that these actions "allow us to value a way of creating from La Gomera closely linked to craftsmanship, sustainability, and identity, while we accompany our designers in their growth and professionalization."
On this occasion, Savitri will be the firm in charge of representing La Gomera at La Palma Fashion Week. The brand, created by Sonia Medina in 2025, was born from a firm commitment to artisanal processes and a form of production that values both the raw materials and the work of those involved in its production.
Savitri's proposal is based on collaboration with textile artisans from Benin, a West African country with an important tradition linked to cotton cultivation and traditional textile techniques. Medina works directly with these producers, acquiring their fabrics at fair prices to later develop and make the garments in their workshop in La Gomera.
The firm's collections, with a physical store in Vueltas, Valle Gran Rey, are characterized by their limited and exclusive character, with pieces made of high-quality cotton and fabrics made through artisanal processes. These include dyeing with natural indigo and different traditional batik techniques carried out completely by hand, which turn each fabric and, by extension, each garment into a singular creation.
Projection of La Gomera brands on catwalks in the Canary Islands
Savitri's participation in La Palma Fashion Week is part of the different actions carried out this year by the Cabildo of La Gomera to promote the presence of firms affiliated with 'La Gomera, Moda y Magia' in professional meetings and regional catwalks.
Thus, last June the program promoted the participation of Ananas Wear, the brand of Gomero designer Javier Aguilar, in Gran Canaria Swim Week, where it presented 'Azurag', a collection of men's swimwear inspired by the landscape and natural elements of La Gomera.
Added to this presence was the participation of Machanga by Yess in Tenerife Fashion Beach Costa Adeje, held last week in Adeje. The firm presented its 'Terra' collection at the Designers' Catwalk, a proposal linked to the volcanic landscapes and sunsets of northern La Gomera, with artisanal macramé and upcycling as some of its main creative elements.
