The conference will be held on October 6 in Agulo, and October 7 in Chipude, starting at 5:00 p.m., and will allow the population to learn about the content of the new PRUG, resolve doubts and raise questions about its scope and implications.
Next week, the Garajonay National Park will hold two days of public presentation of the new Master Plan for Use and Management (PRUG), conceived as spaces for information, dialogue and participation with the citizens of La Gomera. The objective is to make known directly and in detail the content of the document that will establish the regulatory framework and guidelines that will govern the management, conservation and protection of the National Park.
The first of the sessions will be aimed especially at the residents of the northern region of the island, and will take place on Tuesday, October 6, starting at 5:00 p.m., at the Benedicto Negrín Auditorium in Agulo. The second call, intended for the southern region, will be held on Wednesday, October 7, also starting at 5:00 p.m., in the Chipude Multiple Use Building.
During both meetings, the main contents of the new PRUG will be presented, as well as the measures and lines of action that may directly or indirectly affect the territory and the population of the island. The sessions also aim to make it easier for attendees to learn about the scope of the new regulations, understand their implications and raise any questions they consider of interest.
The call places special emphasis on the importance of bringing this new planning instrument closer to those who live in the area of the National Park and maintain a direct connection with it. In this sense, the conference is presented as an open space for consultation and exchange with the local population, promoting knowledge of the guidelines that will mark the future management of the protected space.
The National Park is reminded that Garajonay constitutes a natural heritage of extraordinary value and that its conservation is closely linked to both the territory and the people who inhabit it. Therefore, the involvement and knowledge of the local population are considered essential elements to guarantee responsible management and adequate protection of their natural and cultural values.
The Garajonay National Park management encourages citizens to participate in both days as an opportunity to learn first-hand about the new PRUG, understand the guidelines that will mark the future of the National Park and contribute, through knowledge and dialogue, to its conservation.
