El Campus La Gomera encara su último tramo formativo del año con cursos y salidas de campo

The training offer continues this fall with proposals on artificial intelligence, geoheritage and grafting techniques

The training actions have their registration period open and there are still places available. Enrollment can be formalized by accessing the training offer through this link

The La Gomera 2026 Campus faces the last stretch of its training program of the year with new proposals linked to communication, artificial intelligence, geoheritage and the conservation of traditional agricultural varieties. The initiative, jointly promoted by the Cabildo of La Gomera and the University of La Laguna, keeps registration open for upcoming activities, which still have places available.

This last block of the calendar has already started with the course ‘Communication and development of creativity: blogs, podcasts and video blogs’, which is developed in online mode, and which covers knowledge linked to tools for working with written, sound and audiovisual formats. In addition, it addresses aspects related to communication, the use of social networks for the dissemination of content and the main legal issues that must be taken into account in this area.

The programming will continue on October 6 and 7, at the Valle Gran Rey House of Culture, which will host the course ‘Artificial Intelligence: Fundamentals and Tools’, aimed at people interested in approaching this technology without the need for prior knowledge.

During the sessions, the fundamentals and main models of artificial intelligence, the potential of agentic AI and the use of generative tools such as ChatGPT, Gemini or Copilot will be addressed. The training will also allow students to learn about applications of artificial intelligence in areas such as text analysis, image and audio generation, information classification or automation, also incorporating a reflection on the ethical implications associated with its development and use.

On October 16, the La Gomera Campus will transfer its activity to the territory with a field trip 'Geoheritage on the island of La Gomera'. Departing from Plaza de Alajeró, the activity will visit different locations on the island, including Montaña del Calvario, Caserío de Quise, La Caldera and Cala Cantera. During the itinerary, students will carry out a practical exercise aimed at identifying and selecting geomorphosites and places of geotourism interest, highlighting the possibilities of geological heritage as a resource linked to the development of geotourism in volcanic island territories.

The last training action of the academic calendar will arrive on November 19 and 20 at the Multiple Building of Parque El Curato, in Hermigua, which will host the course 'Grafting as a tool to reproduce traditional varieties of fruit trees: how and why to do it'.

This action will offer students basic knowledge for the reproduction of fruit trees from traditional varieties, paying special attention to those existing in La Gomera. The training is aimed, among other profiles, at students linked to biological, environmental and agricultural sciences, organic farmers and people interested in fruit growing and the conservation of local varieties.

Open registrations

The pending training actions have their registration period open and there are still places available. Enrollment can be formalized by accessing the training offer through this link.

The activities have a symbolic registration fee of 5 euros, the proceeds of which are allocated to strengthening the rural schools of La Gomera, reinforcing the social and educational commitment of this initiative.

The La Gomera 2026 Campus thus continues a program that, during the first half of the year, exceeded 300 registrations for courses, workshops and university micro-credentials. Its annual, transversal and decentralized format allows specialized university training to be brought closer to different municipalities on the island, combining face-to-face activities, proposals about the territory and online training.
