The El Cedro Summer Camp ends with the participation of more than 200 boys and girls from the island

The initiative promoted by the Island Council concludes after five weeks of coexistence, education in values, and healthy leisure in the facilities of the El Cedro Nature Classroom.

The El Cedro Summer Camp ends its programming today with the participation of more than 200 boys and girls from the six municipalities of La Gomera, consolidating itself as one of the main socio-educational and healthy leisure initiatives aimed at the children and youth population of the island.

The activity, promoted by the Cabildo and developed in the surroundings of the El Cedro Nature Classroom, was organized in different shifts and age groups during the last five weeks, allowing the participants to enjoy an experience focused on coexistence, learning, personal autonomy and direct contact with the natural environment.

The island president, Casimiro Curbelo, positively valued the development of this edition and highlighted the high participation registered. “The El Cedro Camp once again demonstrates that it is a space for meeting, personal growth and education in values, where our boys and girls can learn, live together and enjoy one of the most unique natural environments on La Gomera,” he noted.

For his part, the insular Youth Councilor, Guillermo Medina, stressed that the participation of more than 200 boys and girls "reflects the trust that Gomera families place in this project." In this sense, he thanked them for their involvement and valued the work carried out by the team in charge of the organization, coordination and dynamization of the camp.

Throughout the different shifts, participants took part in an extensive program of activities adapted to their ages, which included hiking routes, games, workshops, sports, excursions and proposals related to artistic expression, La Gomera culture, traditional games and knowledge of the territory.

The programming paid special attention to environmental awareness and the acquisition of sustainable habits, promoting respect for nature and knowledge of the island's natural and cultural heritage. Likewise, the activities promoted values such as camaraderie, cooperation, responsibility and autonomy.
