The insular institution signs collaborations with the festival commissions of the island's towns, in order to promote cultural and musical activities framed in the different programs

Curbelo insists on the economic impact that these events have on the localities, as well as their contribution to safeguarding popular traditions.
The Cabildo of La Gomera maintains its commitment to collaboration with the popular festivals of the island through the provision of incentives to the organizing commissions for the development of the planned festive programs, which include both cultural and musical activities.
The island president, Casimiro Curbelo, emphasized the importance of cooperation with these entities, since "it allows us to support the work they carry out to energize the different neighborhoods and population centers of the island." “In this way, we contribute to the maintenance of popular festivals, a symbol of island identity, and facilitate the development of activities and events that keep popular customs and expressions alive,” he added.
Thus, he explained that this year an allocation of 150 thousand euros has been made available to meet the requests of more than twenty party committees spread across the different neighborhoods of the island. “The socioeconomic impact that these events and festivities have in the different localities of the island represents an opportunity for the revitalization of these enclaves,” he noted.
Cooperation with municipalities
Along with the agreements with the festival commissions, the Cabildo of La Gomera has also made available a sum of 150 thousand euros to cooperate with the patron saint festivals through incentives to City Councils, with the aim of promoting cultural and musical activities within the framework of the festivities.
In the case of Agulo, the agreement covers the festivals of San Marcos and Las Mercedes; in Alajeró, El Salvador del Mundo and the Virgin of El Paso; in Hermigua, Santo Domingo de Guzmán and La Encarnación; in San Sebastián de La Gomera, the festivities in honor of the Virgin of Guadalupe; in Vallehermoso, San Juan and the Virgen del Carmen; and in Valle Gran Rey, San Juan Bautista and Ntra. Sra. de Los Reyes.
