The Cabildo activates a home service to bring purchases and medicines to vulnerable people
The insular Institution launches this care program aimed at citizens who reside alone, have some degree of dependency or need these services in the face of the State of Alarm
Telephone attention is provided from Monday to Sunday through 922.140.115 / 922.140.127 and the lines provided by the six town councils.
The Cabildo of La Gomera, in coordination with the island's municipalities, has presented, this Thursday, the home care service 'Let's go to you' with which the transfer of purchases and medicines is facilitated for people who reside alone, have some degree of dependency or need these measures due to the State of Alarm.
The island president, Casimiro Curbelo, together with the Minister of Social Policies, Beatriz Santos, appeared to report on this initiative. Both agreed to highlight the effort made in order to avoid mobility and take unnecessary risks, especially in the most vulnerable groups.
Curbelo thanked the staff who continue to provide services on the island, both in public administrations and in entities, health and social health centers, "since their work is essential at this time." In this sense, he explained that they are working together with the local councils to provide more gloves and hydrological gels that will cover social health centers and the rest of public services.
How to request purchases or medications at home?
The services are activated by a phone call to 922.140.115 / 922.140.127 or to the lines enabled by the town councils. During the call, the user must indicate what service they request and, from there, the transfer teams will be put into operation. In the case of purchase transportation, it will be the designated supermarket chain that provides the home delivery service.
Regarding medications, the protocol will be similar. Once the demand has been notified, Civil Protection or Red Cross personnel will approach the home to collect the prescription or booklet, before going to the nearest pharmacy to bring the requested drug to the applicant.
Free purchase for the most vulnerable
Cases of basic needs stipulated by Social Services will have access to free shopping, strictly following the guidelines established in the exclusion or social emergency reports.
