The Cabildo opens the deadline to request aid aimed at the taxi sector in La Gomera

The island Corporation allocates 250,000 euros to strengthen the competitiveness and sustainability of this essential public service on the island

People interested in requesting this aid may do so from this Monday, August 24, until Friday, September 18, both inclusive, through the Cabildo's Electronic Headquarters.

The Cabildo of La Gomera opens, today, Monday, the deadline to request aid aimed at the taxi sector, with the aim of collaborating in the coverage of expenses associated with its activity and strengthening the competitiveness of this essential public service. The call, published in the Official Gazette of the Province, has a global investment of 250,000 euros and will be open until Friday, September 18.

The island president, Casimiro Curbelo, pointed out that "the taxi plays an essential role in the mobility of La Gomera, especially in those areas where the coverage of other means of transport is more limited. Strengthening this service is essential to move towards a more balanced, sustainable and accessible mobility," he stated.

In this sense, Curbelo recalled that the last call represented an injection of 248 thousand euros to the sector to cover 54 licenses of professionals in the sector.

The call establishes that the incentives will be intended to cover eligible expenses such as insurance policies, fuel, maintenance and repairs, Social Security contributions and tax or labor advice, among others. Each license holder will be able to access a maximum of 3,900 euros, subject to prior justification in accordance with the published bases.

For her part, the Minister of Mobility, Cristina Ventura, highlighted that this aid is part of the Council's commitment to improving public transport and supporting essential sectors such as taxis. “This line of support allows us to reinforce the quality of service, promote economic activity and employment, and continue moving towards more efficient transportation,” he noted.

People interested in benefiting from this call for aid will be able to access the bases, attached documentation, and submit their application, through the Cabildo's Electronic Headquarters, until next Friday, September 18.
