The Alajeró City Council is pleased with the start of the works on the expansion and improvement of the Playa de Santiago treatment plant

The mayor, Manuel Ramón Plasencia thanks the Ministry of Territorial Policy, Territorial Cohesion and Water for the initiative

This past Tuesday, July 29, the signing of the reconsideration document took place in Alajeró to award the work to the company Tragsa for the expansion and improvement of the Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) of Playa de Santiago. An investment that exceeds 2,200,000 euros from the recovery funds corresponding to sanitation and purification related to the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan and Next Generation Europe.

The signing ceremony of the rethinking document was attended by the Deputy Minister of Emergencies and Water of the Government of the Canary Islands, Marcos José Lorenzo Martín and the mayor of Alajeró, Manuel Ramón Plasencia, as well as other representatives.

Precisely, Plasencia appreciates the predisposition of the Vice-Minister whose interest and predisposition finally allows us to face an initiative that was already presented along with other projects with similar characteristics in a public event carried out by the City Council in the month of December 2022 and that is now becoming a reality.

The execution will allow better efficiency and sustainability of the integral water cycle through structural actions, including the incorporation of digital technologies that will enable better management.

Among the planned works is the replacement of collectors and impulse, construction of a new manhole, rehabilitation of aeration tanks with plaster cleaning, painting and replacement of walkways; installation of gate valves and recirculation pumps; installation of disc filters to obtain regenerated water; new chlorination channel systems and dosing systems; execution of buried pipeline for evacuation of maximum flows to the new evacuation pipeline, new feed pumps and polyelectrolyte dosing system, among others.
