The Cabildo of La Gomera has taken stock, this Tuesday, of the procedures carried out with the mobile telephone operators installed in Las Trincheras for their transfer to the new point located in Artamache. As explained by the Minister of the Presidency, Cristina Ventura, “in just half a year we have reached an agreement with the signal supply companies so that they will begin to provide services outside of these facilities starting in March.”
Ventura explained that throughout this time contacts have intensified to resolve the technical problems of this operation, a process that has been delayed over time due to the additional permits that had to be granted due to the fact that Artamache's infrastructure is in an area close to the La Gomera Airport.
He recalled that currently there are two signal repeaters in the Las Trincheras area. One owned by the Cabildo and another by a private company, for which he appreciated the gesture of the companies located in both in response to the request to relocate to Artamache. “We have found a total predisposition and, now, we must materialize it.”
Finally, the island councilor conveyed a message of gratitude to the residents of the area, who have reiterated the urgency of this transfer. “From the first moment, the Institution acquired the commitment to have a new infrastructure and this has been done,” he concluded.
Artamache Center
The Cabildo dedicated more than 60 thousand euros to the construction of this facility, located 130 meters above sea level in the Lomo de Artamache. It is currently equipped with a telecommunications tower and two booths for the installation of transmission equipment.
