With the help of the Friends of Bees Foundation, Hotel Technology Institute,
Picó Turrones and protected in La Gomera by the European Tourism Charter
Sustainable (CETS), opens in Casa Fátima (Las Hayas, Valle Gran Rey) the first
Little hotel for bees from the Canary Islands.
This project, called Bee&Bee, takes in solitary bees looking for a
temporary shelter, giving great protection to these important agents
pollinators. The construction of these little hotels and their placement in places
strategic is one of the ways to help them in their necessary rest.
Furthermore, the project, linked to the tourism sector, seeks to raise awareness about the
importance of preserving bees. The sharp decline in the population of
these insects due to causes such as climate change, decrease in their habitat,
use of pesticides, among others, has promoted different projects for their
conservation. The CETS in La Gomera and its commitment to the territory gives visibility
to a worldwide problem through this first little hotel for bees.
Casa Fátima is a company attached to the CETS, it was selected to place the
first little hotel for bees for its personalized and close treatment with its clients, the
presence of a fruit orchard in the surroundings of the Rural House, an environment
no noise, no pollution and a stable percentage of families staying in the
home, which allows future generations to become aware of this topic.
The placement of this small hotel is the first of those that want to be installed in the network of
companies adhered to the European Charter for Sustainable Tourism in La Gomera.
