The action, with a budget of 467,192.24 euros, is part of the cooperation plan with the Island Council to improve access in different areas of the municipality
The Vallehermoso City Council has put out to tender the works to improve the Igualero runway, with a base budget of 467,192.24 euros and an execution period of five months, within the inter-administrative collaboration agreement between the Island Council of La Gomera and the Consistory.
The project aims to improve the safety and accessibility conditions of the road, which connects the center of Igualero – one of the highest on the island, at 1,320 meters above sea level – with the rest of the municipality, especially affected in the winter by mist and fog.
The works contemplate a set of actions aimed at reinforcing the stability and functionality of the road. These include earthworks, margin cleaning and milling of the existing pavement, as well as the construction of support walls in cyclopean concrete with an exposed stone finish and perimeter straps for new safety railings.
Drainage pipelines and gutters with buried PVC pipes, installation of double conduit for public lighting with flexible copper wiring and connection and grounding manholes will also be executed.
Likewise, the pavement will be reinforced using bituminous emulsions, concrete pavement reinforced with polypropylene fibers and a final layer of hot bituminous mix type AC 16 surf D, completed with the surface curing of the pavement to guarantee its durability and resistance.
These actions will improve the security, accessibility and connectivity of this rural nucleus, reinforcing its role as an essential route for neighborhood and agricultural traffic.
